The Bad

http://www.bluefly.com/

Bluefly is an online shopping site selling fashion apparel and accessories for men and women. First of all the name and logo for the site is a FLY (the insect). This site is cluttered with information and images. A ton of text is too much for anyone to look at. There are advertisements that take up every space on the initial page and the navigation bar is tiny tucked up top. When you go deeper into the site it is just a normal generic layout with little design effort. Navigation become confusion when you want to see different categories of clothing. White and blue color scheme with normal text. Although the site is meant to be simple and would pass the confusing navigation really makes this site user unfriendly.

This site is a great resource for web designers. It purpose is to show common mistakes that beginners make. Some of the fundamental things they point out are Bad background choices and legibility of text. Although this class doesn't cover animation and other web design factors this site is a good thing to look at a review.

The Good

http://www.sony.com/index.php

Sony has a quick loading site that incorporates dynamic movement for its index
Clean look and good layout. Great interaction and animation on the buttons/links and very easy to navigate.
This site is very deep due to the company's production of a wide variety of products, entertainment, and services.
The color scheme and fonts work for the site and it all together conveys the style you would expect from a leading edge electronic company.

I really like how the redbull site was done. Fairly simple with minimal initial text and when you hover the pop ups give you the supplemental info you need. A lot of video footage. Navigation is easy and accessible with a dedicated "contents" page. The gird layout is alright but the rest of the site makes up for it. Alternating color schemes stay true to the redbull branding and work well on the site. i like the silver gradient that gives the metallic look of the redbull can.
